Multi-photon polymerization of waveguide structures within three-dimensional photonic crystals
Photonic crystals with line and point defects are desirable for application as photonic band-gap waveguides and optical cavities, respectively. Here such defects have been introduced into photonic crystals using a laser scanning confocal microscope. High-resolution 3D patterns are created inside the colloidal crystals (see Figure) via multi-photon polymerization.
