Enhanced photofabrication of a surface nanostructure on azobenzene-functionalized polymer films with evaporated gold nanoislands
Gold nanoislands are shown to enhance the photofabrication of the surface nanostructure of azobenzene-functionalized polymer films (see Figure). The depth and diameter of the dents, induced by the near-field around the polystyrene microspheres, change depending on the mass thickness of gold nanoislands. The diameter and distribution of the nanoislands affect the local surface plasmon resonance, so that the UV-vis spectrum of the azopolymer is enhanced.
