Hierarchical mesoporous carbon/silica nanocomposites from phenyl-bridged organosilane
Mesoporous carbon/silica nanocomposites (see Figure) have been synthesized by carbonization of an ordered mesostructured phenylene/silica hybrid with both meso- and molecular-scale ordering. The carbon/silica nanocomposite exhibits an unique pore wall containing carbon and silica components. Removal of the silica results in the formation of mesoporous carbon that could potentially be used for hydrogen storage.
