Reclaimed water - An untapped resource
The need for and benefits of water reclamation from sewage are assessed. The principles and main requirements for potable reuse are analyzed and found to be biological treatment, clarification, disinfection and dissolved pollutant removal. Ozonation has been found to be very effective and beneficial to all four of these elements in South Africa and is set for introduction to Windhoek, Namibia. Direct filtration for clarification is proposed.
