Using first principles total-energy calculations the equilibrium geometry of Au(110) and Ag(110) surfaces has been determined. Besides the (1 x 1) also the missing row (1 x 2) and (1 x 3) structures have been studied. Slab thickness effects have been carefully investigated. The results agree very well with available experimental information.
