Experimental Determinations of Concentration Fields in the Copper and Silver Refining Systems Using Probe-Beam Deflection
The concentration fields in small free convective copper and silver refining cells and a nonconvective horizontal copper refining cell, were measured at different current densities with probe beam deflection (PBD). The electrolytes were aqueous solutions of CuSO4 and AgNO3, respectively. The results show that the PBD-technique gives reasonable values of concentration profiles, as compared to analytical models, and evaluated diffusion coefficients.
