Periodic Current Signals of Very-Low Frequency and Amplitude for Real Surface-Area Measurements .2. Application to Nickel Electrodes
The present work deals with the application of the method described in Part I for the measurement of the real surface area of electrodes using periodic current signals of very low frequency and amplitude. It was applied to rough nickel electrodes in aqueous solutions of 10(-2) M quinhydrone and 0.5 M K2SO4, buffered with acetic acid and sodium acetate. A specific interfacial capacity of 20.9 mu F cm(-2) and polarization resistance of 33.8 k Omega cm(2) have been determined. The accuracy of the proposed method has also been determined through the application of different current signals and different wave parameters.
