Electrodeposition of Aluminum from Nonaqueous Organic Electrolytic Systems and Room-Temperature Molten-Salts
Aluminium electrodeposition from nonaqueous solvents and room temperature molten salts has been reviewed. The features of various aromatic hydrocarbons, ethers and dimethylsulfone as Al-plating baths have been assessed. Electrochemical processes and plating conditions of aluminium room temperature haloaluminate molten salts are described. The haloaluminate melts including alkylpyridinium, alkylimidazolium and alkylammonium are emphasised. Ionic equilibria and electrode processes in these electrolytic systems are discussed.
