Synthesis and Properties of Thermotropic Polyesters Containing Cyclohexyl, Pyridine and Substituted Phenyl Groups

Cyclohexyl, pyridine과 bromo, chlorobenzene 혹은 naphthalene으로 구성된 방향족 액정중합체를 용액중합반응에 의해 합성하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 이들 중합체의 용액점성도(ηinh)는 0.28∼0.70 dl/g이었고 TGA에 의해 205∼340℃에서 분해가 시작됨을 알았다. 중합체들의 조성이 0.5인 경우 가장 낮은 융점을 보였고. 중합체들의 녹음 전이는 열이력에 크게 의존하였다. N4/0, NA/0.25 중합체는 뚜렷한 액정상 구조는 확인하지 못하였고 그 외의 모든 중합체들은 양방성 네마틱 액정상을 보였다.
Aromatic liquid crystalline polymers consisted of cyclohexyl and pyridine unit with bromobenzene, chlorobenzene or naphthalene unit were synthesized by solution polycondensation and characterized. The inherent viscosities of polymers were between 0.28∼0.70dl/g and initial decomposition in TGA occured at 205∼ 340℃ in a N2 atmosphere. Polymers of which mole fraction is 0.5 showed the lowest melting temperature and thermal transitions of the polymers were dependent on thermal history noticeably. All of the polymers, with the exception of the two polymers (NA/0, NA/0.25), formed enantiotropic nematic phase.
