The analysis of the performance of porous electrodes with two equipotential current feeders
On the basis of a one-dimensional model of the porous electrode (pe) and the total polarization curve involving the main and side electrode reactions, the dependence of performance efficiency of the two-section electrode with two short-circuited current feeder on the solid and liquid phase conductivity relation and the position of an additional current feeder is analysed. The introduction of an additional current feeder is shown to produce no effect on the performance characteristics of the pe with high conductivity of the porous matrix. At other phase conductivity relations, an additional short-circuited current feeder influences the effective penetration depth of the main process and current efficiency. Either positive or negative effect can be obtained, depending on the position of the current feeder. In every case, the position of an additional current feeder in the vicinity of the front edge of the pe is the most unfavourable one.
