Surface corrosion of precious dental alloys caused by compound iodine glycerin in artificial saliva
The surface corrosion of five types of precious dental alloys containing Au, AS and Cu caused by 1.0% Compound iodine glycerin in artificial saliva was studied by cyclic voltammetry and specular reflection spectroscopy. Electrooxidation of the alloy electrodes started at about -0.1 V rs SCE. The presence of iodine on the anodically polarized alloy was confirmed by XPS. The rest potential of the alloys in contact with artificial saliva containing 1.0% Compound iodine glycerin was more positive than -0.1 V, where CuI and/or AgI were formed.
