Ionic conductivities of low molecular-weight organic gels and their application as electrochromic materials
A novel family of low molecular-weight organic gels, 4,4',4 "-tris(stearoylamino)triphenylamine (TSATA)/solvent and 4,4'4 "-tris(N-phenyl-N-4-stearoylaminodiphenylamino)triphenylamine (TSA-TDATA)/solvent systems, were developed. Ionic conductivities and electrochromic properties of these low molecular-weight organic gels containing tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate were investigated. Both the TSATA and TSA-TDATA gels were found to exhibit high ionic conductivities and reversible, clear colour changes on electrochemical oxidation and reduction. It is shown that low molecular-weight organic gels, having a redox moiety function, as;a new type of potential electrochromic material systems. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
