Pyrolysis Gasification of Chars from Wood Containing Iron and Copper Sulfates
Gasifications of 350 degrees C chars from wood sorbed with Fe-2(SO4)(3), FeSO4, and CuSO4 were carried out under a flow of nitrogen at 500, 800, and 950 degrees C. Chars from wood treated with (NH4)(2)SO4, (NH4)(2)HPO4, and H2SO4 were also gasifred, in order to investigate the influence of the metal ions, and similar gasifications of treated cellulose were carried out for comparison. The pyrolysis gasification of these high yield charcoals gave good yields of CO, CO2, and hydrocarbons, with very little tar formation.
