Surface acidity of the activated CBC
Carbon black composites (CBC) has been prepared from a commercial soot Carbex-330 and were activated according to the following procedures: oxidation by nitric acid, oxidation by hydrogen peroxide, gasification with water steam, ammoxidation, doping with quinoline or silica gel. Surface properties of the above prepared materials were characterized by means of. TPD NH3, acid/base neutralization, TPD in helium, cyclohexene (CHX) reaction in hydrogen, The point of zero charge of the activated CBC was also determined. The effect of the activation procedure on the acid/base surface properties of CBC is discussed. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
