Growth and characterization of a novel nonlinear optical crystal zinc succinate, Zn(C4H4O4)
The solubility temperature curve of zinc (II) succinate in aqueous was measured, and the bulk single crystal of zinc (II) succinate in size 7 x 8 x 2 mm(3) has been successfully grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. As-grown crystals were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and TG/DTA analyses. The second harmonic output intensity of Zn(C4H4O4) was tested using the Kurtz and Perry method and was 6.5 times as large as KDP. UV-Vis-NIR spectrum shows excellent transmission through the visible region up to 1700nm. (C) 2007 Published by Elsevier B.V.
