Formation of CO2 hydrate on the surface of liquid CO2 droplets in water - Some comments on a previous paper
In a recent paper published in this Journal, Shindo et al. presented a theoretical analysis of the hydrate formation on the surface of a spherical CO2 drop held in a medium of water-a simplified model problem of a key process of the ocean disposal of CO2 (Shindo et al., Energy Conversion Management, 1996, 37, 485). This note gives some comments on the above paper, pointing out some mathematical/physical inconsistencies and questionable physical inferences found in this paper, while respecting the authors' primary view that CO2 hydrate forms in the liquid CO2 phase as tiny particles.
