A novel strategy for two-photon holographic recording: Stepwise two-photon absorption of alpha-quinquethiophene followed by energy transfer to an aryl azide
An efficient method for two-photon holographic recording is demonstrated. Two-photon absorption from gate and holographic lights is effected by silicon-terminated alpha-quinquethiophene, and data recording is achieved by a coexisting 3,3'-diazidodiphenyl sulfone (see figure). The efficiency of the thiophene-azide system is at least two orders of magnitude higher than that of a biacetyl-based system.
