A novel aqueous solution method for K3Li2Nb5O15 film and powder
K3Li2Nb5O15 (KLN) is fabricated from a peroxide precursor. In the fabrication of the peroxide precursor solution, a hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution (H2O2) reacts with niobium ethoxide, potassium ethoxide, and lithium ethoxide in ethanol solution with a K:Li:Nb ratio of 3:2:5 to form the precursor solution. XRD and Raman spectra of the heat-treated powder show that the pure K3Li2Nb5O15 phase can form at a temperature as low as 500 degrees C. Ferroelectric KLN thin film was also fabricated from this clear precursor solution by spin coating, and it displays ferroelectric polarization hysteresis behavior. It is demonstrated that the solution is a novel precursor for KLN with the advantages of low sintering temperature and simplicity. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
