CHANGE IN CHINA POWER SECTOR
Rapid economic growth in China continues to strain an already overburdened electricity system. Only two-thirds of Chinese households are connected to the country's primary power network, As China lacks the capital and manufacturing capacity to significantly boost domestic supplies, measures are being implemented to attract foreign investment and technology assistance. This article assesses the many recent efforts by the Chinese government to improve its country's power generation and utilization system. Long-term projections of electricity generating capacity in China are provided in the paper, along with a review of investment needs for electricity development.
