In order to review the situation regarding international aid for renewable energy in the Pacific Island region, a survey was conducted between November 1995 and May 1996, The survey has provided some interesting information regarding bilateral and multilateral aid for renewable energy in the region from the late 70s to 1996, In this paper, we present and discuss the main findings of the survey, In the future, international aid for renewable energy in the region could be enhanced with further financial assistance, human resources and institutional development, local community involvement, joint ventures and aid efficiency.
