Restricted growth of solid phase from solution
The restricted growth of a solid phase from a fluid has been studied in the framework of the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami model. In the case of three-dimensional growth, the three- and two-dimensional space restrictions due to the particle overlap (intergrowth) have been studied. The resulting equations relate the true and extended conversion degrees, and allow us to describe the overlap in systems with various behaviours of the mean distance between growing particles (whether it changes or not) and various nucleation types (homogeneous, heterogeneous on distant surfaces or in bulk). The equations have been applied for analysis of the experimental kinetic curves. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
