Livestock wastewater treatment by zeolite ion-exchange and gamma-ray imtdiation
Livestock wastewater containing high concentration organic matters and ammonia nitrogen has been known as one of refractory wastewaters. Because the organic matters and the nutrients were rarely removed. it is difficult to treat by conventional wastewater treatment technologies.
In this study, zeolite ion-exchange and gamma-ray irradiation were used to treat livestock
wastewater. When livestock wastewater was treated by zeolite and gamma-ray irradiation, SCODcr and NH3-N were removed effectively, but the zeolite particle size effects on SCODcr, NH3-N removal was insignificant. From these results, we can expect that zeolite ion-exchange and gamma-ray irradiation are very useful in the physico-chemistry treatment process of livestock wastewater.
