Gasification Chamcteristics of Residual Oil using Gasifier System for Oil Sand Bitumen
Oil sand is a deposit of bitumen, heavy black viscous oil that must be treated to convert it into an upgraded crude oil before it can be used by refineries to produce Iiquid fuels. The oil sand is comprisecl of 10~18% bitumen, 70~80% mineral matter and 4~6% water. Gasification process converts low-grade fuel, such as coal, petroleum residual oil, petroleum coke, and biomass into syngas, mainly CO and H2, at high temperature and high pressure. The purpose of this stucly is residual oil(bitumen) gasification by lab-scale gasifier system to produce syngas. The gasification for residual oil yielded a syngas comprising of 40~50% CO, 20~40% H2, and 10~20%
CO2.
