An equation for the calculation of the true density of coals and chars has been developed by the interpretation of own and published experimental data. Comparison with published models show the accuracy of the equation. Since a large number of experimental observations of the ultimate analysis and the true density was used, the new model can be used for all coals and chars with a carbon content of 80% [daf mass] or more.
