White-light-emission afterglow phosphor CaZnGe2O6 : Dy3+
A novel phosphor, CaZnGe2O6:Dy3+, which emits white long-lasting phosphorescence (LLP) upon UV excitation, is prepared by a conventional high-temperature solid-state method, and its luminescent properties are systematically reported in this letter. These phosphors are well crystallized by calcination at. 1150 degrees C for 3 h and possess excellent performance. After irradiation under 240-nm UV light, CaZnGe2O6:2% Dy3+ emits intense white emission with color coordinate values of x = 0.36, y = 0.39, and its afterglow can be seen with the naked eye in the dark clearly for more than 3 h after removal of the excitation source.
