A S-bridged (CoAuCoIII)-Au-III-Co-I trinuclear complex with L-cysteinate acting as a flexible dicarboxylate-type metalloligand toward manganese(II)
Treatment of a S-bridged (CoAuCoIII)-Au-III-Co-I trinuclear complex [1](3+), newly prepared from Delta(L)-[CO(L-cys-N,S)(en)(2)](+) and Au-I, with MnCl2 gave a ID ((Co2MnAuI)-Mn-III-Au-II)(n) polymeric complex, in which two carboxylate groups of [1](3+) bind to two MnCl2 moieties. On the other hand, a discrete (Co2MnAuI)-Mn-III-Au-II tetranuclear complex, in which two carboxylate groups of [1](3+) chelate to a Mn(NO3)(2) moiety, was produced by similar treatment of [1](3+) with Mn(NO3)(2).
