The magnetoresistance effect in a nanostructure with the periodic magnetic barriers
The magnetoresistance (MR) effect is theoretically investigated in a periodic magnetically modulated nanostructure, which can be realized experimentally by depositing periodic parallel ferromagnetic strips on the top of a heterostructure. We find that there exists a significant conductance difference for electrons through the parallel (P) and antiparallel (AP) magnetization configurations, which results in a considerable magnetoresistance effect. We also find that the magnetoresistance effect depends not only on the temperature but also on the number of the periodic magnetic barriers. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
