Densities, Excess Volumes, Speeds of Sound and Excess Isentropic Compressibilities for 2-Butoxyethanol Plus N-Hexane and Plus N-Heptane Mixtures at 303.15 K and 313.15 K
The excess volumes and isentropic compressibilities for the binary mixtures 2-butoxyethanol + n-hexane and + n-heptane at 303.15 K and 313.15 K were estimated from the measured densities and speeds of sound respectively, The excess volumes were found to be large and positive for both the mixtures. The excess isentropic compressibilities were also observed to be positive except in the 2-butoxyethanol-rich regions of 2-butoxyethanol + n-hexane mixtures, where negative values were noted, The speeds of sound of both the mixtures were also analyzed in terms of free length theory (FLT) and collision factor theory (CFT) formulations. FLT calculations were found to predict the speeds of sound reasonably better than CFT formulations, which showed large deviations from the experimental values.
