Experimental permeance data for several light gases in a mesoporous silica membrane are analyzed in detail and shown to conform closely to the Knudsen diffusion model. The results of this study do not support the conclusions drawn from recent molecular simulations concerning the inadequacy of the Knudsen model. (C) 2009 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
