A pi-conjugated, cyclododeca-2,7-fluorene macrocycle is synthesized as a new model compound for polyfluorenes. The structure formation is demonstrated by H-1 NMR spectroscopy, MALDI-TOF, and STM measurements, and the optical properties of this monodisperse cycle are investigated using UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy.
