CHEMICAL AND PETROGRAPHIC CHARACTERIZATION OF REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLES OF VITRINITE AND EXINITE CONCENTRATES
The chemical and petrographical properties of maceral concentrates are described. 7 vitrinites, ranging in rank from high volatile bituminous to anthractie, and 3 exinites of high volatile bituminous coals have been prepared and characterized. The preparation of vitrinite concentrates and exinite concentrates with use of inorganic salt solutions have yielded maceral groups with a purity of 95% (vitrinite concentrates) and 85% (exinite concentrates) respectively. The ash content in the vitrinite concentrates is lower than that in the exinite concentrates. The main ''contamination'' in the exinite concentrates is vitrinite.
