COAL REACTIVITY - CORRELATIONS WITH FUEL RATIO AND NMR DATA
TG/DTG data were obtained for different coals in an inert atmosphere at temperatures between 30 degrees C and 950 degrees C. The reactivity of the coals correlated with the inverse of the fuel ratio (VM/FC). While the values for the coal structural parameter A-G (concentration of alkyl and naphthenic carbons attached to an aromatic ring) correlated with the char formation, the H-gamma values (concentration of protons and methyls attached to an aromatic ring) showed a linear relationship with the rate of degradation of coals. An equation relating the reactivity of coals to the coal structural parameter H-gamma has been proposed.
