Pyrolysis of Egyptian Maghara pulverized coal particles
The slow pyrolysis of Egyptian Maghara pulverized coal particles was studied experimentally. The present investigation focuses on studying the effects of particle size and peak pyrolysis temperature on: (i) total percentage weight loss, (ii) pyrolysis percentage product distribution and (iii) gas composition. The experimental weight loss was compared with the difference in volatile matter of coal before and after pyrolysis, The actual yield was found to be a fraction of the difference. A capture factor was calculated to account for the balance. The theoretical volatile yield was compared with the experimental yield. The results are analyzed and discussed.
