Results of investigations of the properties of a new ash-free additive to lube oils, which is a boron-containing Mannich alkylphenol base, and which is not inferior to the zinc-containing dithiophosphate additive DP-11 in terms of effectiveness, are presented. The advantages of the additive developed are scaled against those with dithiophosphates of metals. The additive is recommended for the creation of high-quality, ecologically safe, thermally stable, low-ash or ash-free lubricants.
