New reagent, N,N,N',N'-tetraoctyl-3,6-dioxaoctanediamide (DOODA-C8), was synthesized and examined for the actinide and fission product extractions. Extraction from nitric acid to n-dodecane was studied and it was found that DOODA-C8 can extract U-VI, Pu-IV, Am-III, lanthanides (Ln)(III), and Tc-VII. The D values of Fe-III, Pd-II, and Zr-IV indicate weak complexation with DOODA-C8. The aqueous conditions for the partitioning process can be prepared in the absence of masking agents.
