Secondary flow generated in curved flow
Secondary now in coiled tubes and passages is a result of centrifugal forces. This now increases the heat and mass transfer as compared with the values obtained for straight tubes. The contribution of this augmentation is depending on the now conditions and fluid properties. The objective of this study was to arrive at a better understanding of the secondary now generated in helical coiled pipes and static mixer tubes in case of laminar flow.
