Quantum Cutting in Tm3+/Yb3+-Codoped Lanthanum Aluminum Germanate Glasses
In the present paper, Tm3+/Yb3+-codoped lanthanum aluminum germanate glasses are prepared by simply melting and quenching method. Quantum cutting (QC) between Tm3+ and Yb3+ ions in these samples is realized; in the QC process, one blue photon at about 467 nm is cut into two near-infrared photons at about 1 mu m. The maximum energy transfer efficiency and the corresponding QC efficiency can reach as high as 59.9% and 159.9%, respectively.
