Detection of intact influenza viruses using biotinylated biantennary S-sialosides
We report the modular synthesis of robust, biotinaylated biatennary sialylglycoconjugates and their ability to differetiate between two type A influenz strains. This is the first demonstration of glycoconjugate-based discriminator capture and electrion of two strians of intact influenza virus, in the presence of the innate enzymatic activity of viral neuaminidases. We also demonstrate a "carbosassy" using glycoconjugates as capture and reporter elements, which therefore, does not require antibodies. The capture of intact influenz viruses is of potential benetit for clinial diagnostics.
