A paradigm of ill-posedness with respect to time delays
The authors present a simple general model of an infinite-dimensional control system which is stabilized by a velocity feedback, but then destabilized by "small" or "large" time delays in the feedback. This model is in some sense generic for boundary-stabilized conservative hyperbolic linear partial differential equations.
