LABORATORY STUDIES IN FRACTURED POROUS-MEDIA PART .1. REINFILTRATION FOR GAS-LIQUID SYSTEMS
Visual inspection of experiments on a stack of blocks surrounded by vertical and horizontal fractures reveals that the path of liquid drainage is principally through the rock matrix and not through the vertical fractures. The experiments also show that capillary continuity is maintained across partially cemented fractures via film flow. The laboratory experiments reported in this work are a valuable resource to verify the accuracy of numerical reservoir simulators.
