EXPERIMENTAL-STUDY OF HEAT-TRANSFER IN POOL BOILING OF LIQUIDS
An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the effect of some important parameters on nucleate pool boiling of three single components (distilled water, ethanol and cyclohexane) and a multicomponent system, kerosene at atmospheric pressure. The heat transfer surface was a horizontal stainless steel tube of 31.9 mm o with an effective area of 1.59 x 10(-2) m(2). Heating of the test section was done by an electric heater placed inside the tube. The heat flux was varied in steps from 2.51 to 32.67 KW/m(2). The effect of heat flux on heat transfer coefficient has been discussed. The experimental data for all the test liquids was best correlated by a general correlation in terms of dimensionless groups.
