Effect of adhesive forces on the filtration and regeneration behaviour of filter elements
Filter elements (Al2O3) were studied for their filtration and regeneration behaviour using three different types of dusts, viz., non-siliconised glass spheres, siliconised glass spheres, Aerosil mixed glass spheres. The regeneration of the filter elements was carried out in beaker type centrifuge at different speeds and the regeneration efficiencies were calculated. Tensile strength-50% values were used to compare the adhesive forces prevailing in the filter cakes. The results showed that the Aerosil mixed glass spheres distinctly gave strongly held cakes than the other two dusts. The role played by interparticle forces was distinctly established through this investigation.
