Corrosion behaviors of bulk metallic glasses Fe66.7C7.0S3.3B5.5P8.7Cr2.3Al2.0Mo4.5 having different crystal volume fractions
The influence of crystallization on the corrosion resistance of bulk metallic glass Fe66.7C7.0Si3.3B5.5P8.7Cr2.3Al2.0Mo4.5 fabricated using industrial raw materials has been studied in the solutions of 0.5 M H2SO4 and 1N HCl, respectively It was found that corrosion resistance is strongly dependent on the microstructural change caused by annealing treatment. As-cast rods comprising fully amorphous phase exhibit higher corrosion resistance than crystallized rods. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
