A reproducible procedure for packing small-diameter packed beds with mixture of fines and catalyst is reported. Such beds are essential for process catalyst testing in trickle-flow reactors. Packing uniformity along the bed, reproducibility of single-phase pressure drop and reproducibility of liquid holdup and two-phase flow pressure drop in repacked beds has been demonstrated.
