In situ FTIR study of transformation of 3-cyanopyridine on V-Ti-O catalyst
Surface complexes of cyanopyridine on a V-Ti-O catalyst were studied by in situ FTIR spectroscopy. In the temperature range of 130-290 A degrees C, two types of adsorbed cyanopyridine bound to different sites (Lewis acid sites or Bronsted acid sites) were found to transform into surface nicotinamide. At 220-290 A degrees C, surface heterocyclic complexes decompose to form carboxylates and ammonium ions.
