ZnO nanocrystallites were synthesized with the aids of NaNO3-KNO3 eutectic (45:55 wt.%) instead of any organic additives. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were conducted. The characterization results indicated that the NaNO3-KNO3 eutectic, which acted as solvent medium, was in favor of the formation of homogeneous hexagonal ZnO nanocrystals. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V.
