Parsons-Lee approach for oblate hard spherocylinders
A Parsons-Lee approach for the isotropic-nematic transition and equation of state (EoS) of oblate hard spherocylinders is presented. The expansion of the orientation distribution function in terms of Legendre polynomials along with a closed expression for the mutually excluded volume of hard particles gives accurate values for the EoS. Results presented in this work compare favorably with recent simulation results for oblate hard spherocylinders and cut spheres. The discussion extends to nematic order parameter.
