Partially decentralized controllers offer performance superior to that of decentralized controllers without the cost and complexity of full multivariable controllers. However, selection of suitable partially decentralized control structures poses a problem since there are a great number of alternatives. A method for the selection of partially decentralized control structures is proposed in this paper. Examples are given to illustrate the success of this modified interaction measure in identifying suitable partially decentralized control structures.
