Rhenium(VII) Recovery Via Electro-oxidation Process
Rhenium was successfully extracted from SARCHESHMEH molybdenite concentrate via an electro-oxidation process for the first time. The effect of electrolysis parameters including time, temperature, and pH on the extraction was investigated using a typical pilot setup. An electrolyte mixture of NaCl solution and concentrate was electrolyzed at pH 8, 45 degrees C, and 40 A, for 8 h. Rhenium recovery efficiency increased with time, and the recovery of 93% was obtained after 8 h electrolysis. Increasing the pH enhanced the extraction efficiency to 97%. It was found that extraction increased at the electrolyte temperatures below 45 degrees C, but decreased at higher temperatures. (C) 2010 The Electrochemical Society.
