Investigation of the Role of Silicon and Its Nonplanar Tetrahedral Coordination in the Transmission of Charge in a Mixed-Valent Binuclear Iron Complex - Synthesis and Characterization of a TCNE-Center-Dot- Salt of CP-Asterisk-Fe(Mu-C14H18Si2)Fecp
Electrochemical oxidation of Cp*Fe(mu-C14H18Si2)FECp,* III, in CH2Cl2 shows two reversible oxidations separated by 0.268 V. Reaction of III with TCNE yields [(Cp*Fe)2(mu-C14H18Si2)+]-[TCNE.-], V, which is apparently completely valence trapped on the Mossbauer time scale.
